What is the Titan Procedure?
The Titan Procedure™ is a safe, non-surgical process that uses an infrared light source to tighten skin and reverse the signs of aging. The Titan™ heats the dermis to cause collagen contraction while preserving the epidermis through continuous cooling. In addition, Titan can stimulate long-term collagen rebuilding that leaves patients with younger looking skin.
The Titan Procedure treats lax and redundant skin throughout the body – including the abdomen, thighs and underarms – and is also used to tone, lift and tighten skin on the face and neck.

Titan utilizes a safe infrared light source with a unique wavelength filtering design to uniformly heat the dermis. The non-invasive Titan Procedure protects the epidermis through continous contact cooling with the Titan handpiece while the infrared light heats the deep dermis. No down-time or pain medication is required. It is a nonablative, nonsurgical lifting procedure which causes the collagen in the dermis to contract and tighten. The Titan employs infrared light to lift and tighten the skin so that gravity changes are softened, fine wrinkles are less obvious and pores are shrunk.
It can be used for tightening skin over various areas of the body, including the forehead, the lower face along the chin line, under the eyes, the hands, the abdomen, around the knees, and in some cases the breasts.

- How does the Titan work?
Titan utilizes a safe, infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin's surface. This heating can cause immediate collagen contraction. During the procedure, the skin's surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece. After the procedure, new collagen growth results in further tightening and the development of a more youthful complexion with less lines, folds or looseness of the skin.
The infrared light travels through the to the deeper layers of the skin causing tightening of the collagen architecture. Because the heat is applied deep within the skin, some swelling and redness may be seen. The procedures takes approximately one hour.
The results of Titan Skin Tightening Technology may be seen within a few weeks of the treatment, however the full benefits are usually not observed for three to six months. This is probably the most difficult part of this procedure as the effects of the treatment are not seen immediately.
The advantage of the Titan over the therma-lifting techniques is that the skin and underlying fat is heated uniformly avoiding differential heating of the fat; therefore, the risks of dents and atrophy of the skin is much less likely.

The TITAN procedure does not injure fat due to it's unique optical energy source. Competitor machines have had multiple problems with injuring fat and causing some dimpling because of their RF (radio-frequency) energy source.
The all-optical approach of the Titan procedure uses water as the target chromophore, creating an even distribution of the applied energy in the treatment volume.
For the RF approach, the energy deposition depends on the impedance of the layers in the skin, which varies significantly from dermis to the subcutaneous fat layer.
TITAN also works wonderful with other non-ablative technologies and other forms of intense pulsed light photofacials.
- What areas respond best to the Titan procedure?
Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the abdomen, back of the upper arm, along the jaw line and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure.
- Who can be treated?

- How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced very good results for many patients. Our consultant will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results.
- What happens after the treatment? Any side effects?
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours. Our consultant can provide you with complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.
- When will I see results?
Some patients see results immediately. For most patients, the results are gradual over a three to six month period as new collagen is formed and the skin tightens.
- What do treatments feel like?
With each Titan pulse, you will feel a brief heating sensation. Some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Many patients are comfortable without anything.
- Has the Titan been tested and approved?
The Titan has been carefully studied in clinics around the world. It is cleared for the treatment of wrinkles in Europe and for general dermatologic use in Canada. In the US, it is cleared for topical heating to increase local tissue temperatures and circulation.
- How much does it cost?
The cost depends on the area being treated and will be discussed during the consultation with a specialist. Most titan treatments range anywhere from $500 to $2500.
